Lets take a look at the File menu
of Microsoft FrontPageŽ 2003 as this is where you will start each session
working with your Web site.
Note: by default you may not see all options that
are available on the menu. If you don't see the options you are
looking for you need to keep the mouse pointer over the word
"File", or click on the double down arrow at the
bottom of the menu in order to reveal all available options. |

Transfer a disk-based web to a
server-based web
If you configured your computer as a
local server when installing Microsoft FrontPageŽ
2003, and used it to
create your Web site locally, you can use the
following procedure to transfer your disk-based Web to server-based
Web.
| Open your disk-based Web in Microsoft FrontPageŽ 2003,
and then publish the Web using HTTP, specifying the URL of your server
as the location you want to publish to.
|
|
 |
After choosing Publish option from the
menu you will see
the following dialog box:

In the "Specify the location to
publish your web to:" field, you will need to type in the IP
number
that you have been supplied with. Always starts with "http://".
If you are publishing your site to the
new location for the first time, you should check the "Publish
all pages....". If your site contains subwebs (e.g. discussion
group, and such, that require separate location and/or its own settings)
you should check the "Include subsitess" check box
under "Publish" tab.
After clicking on the
"Publish" button you will see the progress of the publish
process. You may be asked for your user name and password for the
location you are about to publish your Web to. After the process is finished you should be able to use your site from our
server by your IP number, or by your domain name (if your domain name has been
registered or switched using proper settings to point to the new
location).
